My Story

Ladder-backed Woodpecker at Inks Lake State Park 2020

The Beginning

Since I was young, I have been fascinated by nature. I would explore the woods behind my home every chance I could. If I was not outside, I was probably sitting in front of a TV watching Planet Earth or other nature documentaries. Hiking and camping quickly became some of my favorite hobbies. Occasionally, I would go camping with my friends in high school. One of them would always bring their camera, which sparked the idea of getting one myself. My first camera was a Canon Powershot SX530, a 16 MP point-and-shoot digital camera. I took it on a camping trip to Inks Lake State Park west of Austin, TX. When I began taking photos of some of the birds I saw around camp, I became hooked. My first subject was a ladder-backed woodpecker on top of a tree stump. From then on I was passionate about capturing wildlife moments.

Present

Fast forward a few years, and my hobby has now grown into an obsession. I have since upgraded my camera equipment to help capture more moments. I have also fallen in love with birding which is why birds are the most common subjects in my photos. Wildlife and environmental conservation has now become of focus of mine as well. My mission is to use my photography to promote the importance of protecting animals and their habitats. Protecting wildlife is crucial for maintaining the balance of our ecosystems, which in turn supports human life and recreation. By preserving natural habitats and the diverse species that inhabit them, we ensure future generations can experience the beauty and wonder of nature.
